Birbal, was a Hindu Brahmin advisor in the court of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. Birbal is mostly known for the folk tales which focus on his wit. Birbal was one of the nine jewels in Akbar darbar.
There was a Mogul Emperor in India, Akbar The Great Jalaludden Mohammed Akbar Padshah Ghazi (1542-1605). Although Akbar was illiterate, but he had capability to invite the people at any time or as required. Nav Ratna were famous from these invited persons - Tansen, Todarmal, Abul Fazal, Maan Singh and Birbal.
Birbal (1528-1586) original name Mahesh Das Bhatt was prime minister of Akbar. He was one of the nine advisers and most responsible member. He was the first person after Akbar who accepted religion - Deen-E-Elahi. Birbal was famous for his presence of mind and his intelligence. Gradually, there came so many jokes and stories about Birbal in those days, these stories were famous in kids and adults both.
